ON-ICE Volunteer Requirements
Thank you for offering your time and assistance to our organization. Your willingness to contribute as an on-ice volunteer helps provide additional support to our coaches and enhances the experience of our athletes. On behalf of the Blues Executive, thank you for your dedication to the development and success of our athletes.
ON-ICE VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES
As an On-Ice Volunteer, your role is to assist the coaches during practice sessions under their direct supervision.
Your responsibilities include:
- Following Coach's Instructions: Listening carefully to the instructions provided by the coach and carrying out assigned tasks to support the practice session effectively.
- Assisting with Drills: Helping set up and organize practice drills as directed by the coach. This may include arranging cones, distributing pucks, and providing additional support to players during drills.
- Providing Player Support: Offering encouragement and support to players as they participate in drills and exercises. Your presence on the ice helps create a positive and motivating environment for the athletes.
- Ensuring Safety:Prioritizing the safety of all participants by following safety guidelines and protocols established by the coaching staff. Promptly addressing any safety concerns or hazards that may arise during practice sessions.
HOCKEY REQUIREMENTS
All On-Ice Volunteers need to complete the following registrations and certifications:
- The Shift Forward: Evolving Hockey Culture Online Training or Valid Respect in Sports Activity leader
- Gender Identity Online Training
- Valid Police Records Check (VSC - Vulnerable Sector Check)
- Signed Rowans Law Acknowledgement
U10 - U11
- Coach 2 (1 day in class course)
- Hockey Canada Coach 2 (online clinic)
- Hockey Canada Coach 2 - U11 (online module specifically for coaches coaching U11)
U12 - U18
- Hockey Canada Coaching Program - Development 1 (online clinic)
- Development 1 (1 day in class course)
