Chris Sideroff

Hockey Background:

I have been involved in hockey my entire life. I grew up in small-town northern Alberta in the 80's, where I developed my game and went on to play Junior A in the early 90s.

My coaching career began while living in the United States, where I served as an assistant coach on Syracuse University men's club program. Since returning to Canada, I have spent three seasons as a head coach with the Blues, along with two seasons as an assistant coach. I also served one season as head coach in the GCGH girls hockey program.

Coaching Philosophy / Season Goal:

My philosophy centers on building the complete player - on and off the ice. I believe in prioritizing process over outcome; while winning matters, it is never the sole purpose of the game. My teams are built on a foundation of accountability and a genuine team-first mentality, where players compete for each other rather than individual recognition. I embrace failure as an essential part of growth - if players aren't being challenged enough to fail, they aren't developing. That same mindset applies to me and my coaching staff as well. I believe coaches must continually learn and adapt alongside their players, treating every miscommunication or missed opportunity as a chance to improve.

I am excited to bring my playing and coaching experience to the U18 Blues team, and look forward to developing these players both on and off the ice.
