Blues U14
Greg Mouland
Hockey Background:
On a personal level - I grew up playing minor and high school hockey in Ottawa. I continue to play adult hockey and have been volunteering with minor hockey since my son started playing IP with Orleans Rush (Storm). I have been either Head Coach or an Assistant Coach for the past 6 years. I am the U11 Storm Coach Mentor and a member of the Storm Player Development Team. I am committed to on-going professional development, learning, and changing as the game does.
Coaching Philosophy / Season Goal:
My coaching philosophy is largely the same as last season - it is centered on developing well-rounded athletes by fostering a positive, respectful, inclusive, and team-first environment. At the U14 level, I believe in balancing skill development, team tactics, and character building. I emphasize effort, teamplay, and sportsmanship while encouraging players to challenge themselves and learn from both success and adversity. My goal is to help each player grow not only as a hockey player but also as a confident, respectful person, who loves the game as much as I do. I believe hockey teaches many skills that will help children develop into confident, healthy, young adults. I believe fair play and equal ice time in all scenarios is critical.
As the returning Head Coach, my goal is to start the season as well as we ended last year. We developed a team that was capable of competing with any team in the league. With the players being teenagers this season, we will be placing more emphasis on the competitive mindset, personal accountability, and improving self assessment skills.
