Hockey Background:
I was born and raised in Winchester, a short distance from the Ottawa area. I moved into the city as a teenager and played competitive hockey for the Ottawa Sting. After minor hockey, I played 5 seasons of Junior B, split between the Ottawa South Canadians and my hometown Winchester Hawks. Over the last few years, I have been an assistant coach at both the U7 and U9 levels.
Coaching Philosophy / Season Goal:
I plan to focus on essential skill development, healthy competition, and teamwork. Kids should be eager to come to the rink, and they can expect a fun, positive, and challenging atmosphere at every practice and game. The ultimate goal is to love the game; as the head coach, I will ensure that’s the focal point of all team activities.

- Silver Stick (Northumberland) Nov 21-23

Hockey Background:
Growing up in a military family, I was fortunate to playing minor hockey in a few different provinces. For the last 36 years, I have been involved in some form of hockey: as a goalie, player, coach, coach mentor, convenor and director.
Coaching Philosophy / Season Goal:
My primary goal is to establish a positive and fun environment where players can nurture their passion for the game of hockey, while creating a team-first mentality and providing each player the opportunity to progress and be challenged based on their knowledge and skill level.
At U11, there is still a lot of learning and developing required so a strong emphasis will be focused on the basics of hockey and creating strong fundamentals. Overall, I believe in the development of well-rounded players. This can be accomplished by giving all players the opportunity to play in various positions and game situations, as well as, increasing their technical and tactical skills.
I recognize this is competitive hockey and everyone wants to win, myself included; however, at no time will winning sacrifice the development, fair play, team rules and values. Success is not measured by wins/loses. There can be many highs and lows during a season, so it’s essential that the team learns to win and lose while remaining humble and respectful to their teammates, coaches, referees and opponents. I believe in demonstrating good sportsmanship, always putting your best effort forward and having a positive attitude in anything you do.
This season will focus on the U11 Hockey Canada Pathway. There will be an emphasis on individual skill development and tactics through stations and small area games. To help transition these skills effectively in games, there will also be team-based concepts and flow drills.

Hockey Background:
As a coach, I bring a lifelong passion for hockey shaped by my experiences as a competitive player, a dedicated coach, and a proud hockey parent. My commitment to player development extends beyond the ice, focusing on fostering growth both as athletes and as individuals. My love for the game was ignited during my time with the Gloucester Rangers, where I benefited from exceptional coaching and developed a strong foundation in the sport.
I was fortunate to spend several years training under Carl Ménard, owner of Competitive Edge Hockey School. As a teenager, I took my passion for the game to the next level by working alongside Carl as a skills coach, an experience that deepened my commitment to player development. Helping young athletes train, improve, and grow continues to be one of the most rewarding aspects of my involvement in the game.
For the past 16 years, I’ve worked in various roles with hockey players - running on-ice skill sessions, leading off-ice training, and serving as both an assistant and head coach.
Coaching Philosophy / Season Goal:
I believe hockey is about much more than goals and wins; it’s a platform to teach values like hard work, teamwork, and respect. I take my role as a coach and mentor seriously, striving to be a strong, supportive, and positive presence. My focus is not only on building hockey skills, but also on developing confidence and life skills - helping every player grow into both a better athlete and a better person.
I believe in creating a team environment that is fun, inclusive, and motivating. I take pride in fostering a positive team culture where every player feels valued and supported - a culture that players are proud to be part of and excited to contribute to.
Our Core Values as a Hockey Team:
Respect: For coaches, teammates, opponents, officials, and the game itself.
Teamwork: Working together toward a common goal; selflessness and trust.
Accountability: Taking ownership of actions, effort, and attitude — no excuses.
Work Ethic: Giving 100% in practices, games, and off-ice training.
Discipline: Staying focused, following systems, and making smart decisions under pressure.
Integrity: Always doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.
Resilience: Bouncing back from setbacks and staying mentally tough.
Inclusivity: Creating a welcoming environment where every player feels they belong.
Positivity: Encouraging a mindset that lifts the team, not drags it down.
Leadership: Leading by example, regardless of title or role.
Passion: Love for the game and a desire to keep improving.
Growth: Focus on personal and team development — on the ice and as individuals.
Sportsmanship: Competing hard while showing class, win or lose.

Hockey Background:
I grew up playing minor and high school hockey in Ottawa. I continue to play adult hockey and have been volunteering with minor hockey since my son started playing IP with Orleans Rush (Storm). I have been either Head Coach or Assistant Coach for the past 5 years. I am committed to professional development, learning and changing as the game does.
Coaching Philosophy / Season Goal:
My coaching philosophy is centered on developing well-rounded athletes by fostering a positive, respectful, inclusive, and team-first environment. At the U13 level, I believe in balancing skill development, tactical understanding, and character building. I emphasize effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship while encouraging players to challenge themselves and learn from both success and adversity. My goal is to help each player grow not only as a hockey player but also as a confident, respectful teammate who loves the game as much as I do. I believe hockey teaches many skills that will help the children develop into confident, healthy, young adults. I believe fair play and equal ice time in all scenarios is critical.

Andrew Pile bmha.rep@blueshockey.ca |
Hockey Background:
My hockey experience began at a young age while posted in Winnipeg where a good portion of the season was played on outdoor rinks. Despite the frigid temperatures, my love of hockey was born and I continued playing through high school and into adulthood, including four years of competitive hockey played in the USA.
I have been coaching hockey for the last five years with the East End Storm (formerly Orleans Rush) and the East Ottawa girls’ competitive hockey associations.
Coaching Philosophy / Season Goal:
While I could give an elaborate explanation of my coaching philosophy, in essence, it is centered around three main principles; respect, effort and fun. This is the foundation from which I approach each team and the concepts that guide and shape each new season. I believe that hockey provides a platform for developing skills which can be used both on the ice but also applied to life in general. I commit to being present and engaged in my role as coach to the best of my abilities and I ask the same of each player in return.
My goals for the season tie back into my coaching philosophy:
Respect: Foster a team culture where players respect each other, opponents, coaches, and officials at all times through respectful communication and behavior, expecting players to do the same both on and off the ice.
Effort: Encourage players to bring their best effort in every practice, training and game, emphasizing growth and improvement over winning alone.
Fun: Cultivate a positive and enjoyable atmosphere that fuels players’ enthusiasm.
In terms of measurable goals for this season, I would like us to achieve the following as a team:
- Finish the season with a winning record and positive goal differential
- Maintain a low level of penalty minutes
- Make the finals in a tournament
- Advance past the preliminary round of playoffs

Hockey Background:
For the past 15 years, I've been involved at the rinks as a coach, trainer, or assistant coach. I played many years for the Blues while growing up in Orleans.
Coaching Philosophy / Season Goal:
My coaching philosophy is built on three guiding principles: effort, fun, and respect. I believe that every player should bring their best effort to the rink each day—progress and growth come from hard work and dedication, both on and off the ice. At the same time, hockey should be enjoyable; fostering a fun environment helps players develop a lifelong love for the game. Above all, respect for teammates, coaches, opponents, and the sport itself is fundamental. By emphasizing these values, we create a positive and supportive atmosphere where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential.
